Property Overrides in Specification

We’ve added a powerful new feature to give you more flexibility when defining information requirements: Property Overrides.

Until now, properties behaved the same way across all specifications. With this update, you can now tailor how a property behaves in each individual specification

🔄 Overrides for Property Values

You can now overwrite global property settings at the specification level. This allows you to:

  • Restrict values to a relevant subset for the current specification
e.g. Limit material options based on the element type

  • Force a single predefined value
e.g. Assign a specific Uniclass code for a given specification

  • Apply custom value rules (e.g. Regex) per specification
e.g. Use different validation rules for system codes across specifications

🔄️ Overrides for Revit Mappings

As well as overwriting property values, you can now adjust Revit mappings context-specific to handle e.g. different Revit categories using different built-in parameters for the same information.

🔜 What’s next?

We have already planned to extend the overrides to cover further property settings. Next up are overrides for disciplines that will allow you to define different disciplines responsible for a property depending on the specification.
