LastBIM 3.0 is there!

Dear LastBIM-user,

LastBIM 3.0 is there!

About two weeks ago, we already gave you a sneak peek at what we've been working on. Today we're excited to share that the update is now available. Here's what's new:

🗂️ Individual Property Mappings

The biggest feature change in this release: you can now create multiple mapping configurations per catalog. This means that in a collaboratively used project, each party can have e.g. their own Revit mapping to use their own internal parameter names and GUIDs.

On top of that, two new mapping types are now available:

  • Catalog mappings — map properties from one LastBIM catalog onto another, so you don't have to re-enter e.g. your Revit settings for every new project. This includes an auto-suggest feature in bulk edit mode to speed up the process.
For now, this mapping type is only supported on the platform, the support for the plugin will follow soon.

  • Custom mappings — to manage further property definitions for any tool or system beyond Revit and IFC, e.g. for your CAFM system.

🛠️ Redesigned Property Dialog

The property dialog has been reorganized into dedicated tabs to give each area more space and clarity:

  • A separate tab for value rules

  • A new value library where you can assign aliases and descriptions to values, which helps model authors to understand what each value means

  • A new overrides tab for a clear overview of all property overrides. You can also switch now between different property variants directly in the property dialog.

📊 Extended View Settings

You can now filter by almost any column across all table views and use some of the columns to sort the tables. With the new custom views feature, you can save different overviews of your properties and specifications — each with its own focus — and switch between them quickly.

🧭 Improved Navigation and Specification Detail View

We've restructured the sidebar to make navigating between catalogs and project settings more intuitive. The specification detail view has also been updated with a new design that gives more space to properties and makes tags visible directly in the sidebar.

🔄 Revit Plugin Update (new installer available)

With this update also comes a new plugin version with the following improvements:

  • Support for Revit 2027

  • IFC mappings can now be read and written from element types, not just instances

Further Smaller Improvements

  • Search behavior in the specification overview: When searching in the specification overview, now you can see if the search results have child specifications and expand them. Before, the child-specifications were not visible.

  • Visibility of value types: Suggested values now have a dashed border instead of a solid border for allowed values so that people without edit rights can differentiate them.

  • Navigation between specification and property detail views: When you are in a specification, you can navigate directly to the detail view of one of its properties.

In this update, a lot of your feedback came together. We hope these changes make your work with LastBIM noticeably smoother. As always, we’re happy to hear your feedback so we can incorporate it into future updates.
