Auto-Narrowing | IDS Filter | History Loading Time

This week we launched some new improvements for you:

🆕 New features:

• Auto-narrowing will make the set up of your catalog easier if you are working with classifying properties.

• Filtering the catalog by tags for the IDS export will help you to extract exactly the requirements that you need.

💫 Improvements:

• Loading the Change History of your Catalog will be much faster now - especially if you already worked a lot on the catalog on LastBIM.

Introducing Auto-Narrowing

When working with classifying properties and hierarchical specification trees, classifying properties often need to be narrowed down to a subset of values that match the child specifications of their parent to ensure that the combination of two or more classifying properties is valid.

E.g.:

• ObjectGroup = Walls AND Object = Load-Bearing Wall ✅

• ObjectGroup = Foundation AND Object = Pile Foundation ✅

• ObjectGroup = Walls AND Object = Pile Foundation ❌

What’s changing?

Currently, this can already be achieved manually, by restricting the value lists of the classifying properties for each specification. But this can be very cumbersome and prone to errors.

With Auto-Narrowing, LastBIM will automatically restrict the available values of a classifying property based on the classification of the sub-specifications.

Why is this useful for you?

✅ Faster set-up: No manual filtering of value lists on the platform; the system generates it automatically from the classifications.

✅ No invalid classifications: No more accidentally selecting invalid combinations of classifying properties during attribution.
